Methodology - Training & Placement

The Objective:

  • Building awareness about the skill development training for livelihood generation within the target communities & FIWE-SDI program benefits.
  • Mobilizing large number of potential beneficiaries to enroll for the training program & ensuring successful completion of the training program for the target number of beneficiaries within the scheduled project period.
  • Provide placements in organizations for the respective trades and enable the beneficiaries employment opportunities for better livelihood.

Implementation Methodology

  • Identify the community from which the beneficiaries have to be selected (information from DRDA / local self government / based on previous batch results).
  • Designing / Customizing the outreach campaign - message, medium, expected results.
  • Planning & executing the outreach campaign -
    • Direct Campaigns - Door to door mobilization by pre-appointed mobilizer/ team, peers, use of previous batch photographs, testimonials, participating in job melas . This is done at block level, wherein potential beneficiaries are invited and familiarized with the benefits, post which interested candidature is interviewed & then put through a selection process.
    • Placement of Posters, Distribution of Fliers, Pamphlets, Hoardings.
    • Use of regional /local press for mass distribution of leaflets & advertisements in localized language.
    • Community meetings with Panchayat members & Local leaders.
    • Road Shows, creating radio jingles and audio bytes for awareness through FM Radio & developing television ads and scrolls, video van campaigns.
    • Building awareness through Haats & Markets viz. Weekly markets where people from surrounding villages conduct trade on fixed days. This is an effective mechanism to generate awareness amongst large groups.

    The outreach activities outlined above are not exhaustive but at any time either one or combination of two or more activities is given are executed based on the spread of the beneficiaries and their socio -economic status.
  • Administration of selection tests to assess and select the deserving beneficiaries, selection, counseling and registration of potential beneficiaries. Administer the Selection Test / Aptitude Test Module, and those who are selected are registered for the course straight away.
  • After successful completion, the placement process is initiated where-in placement tie-ups are done to ensure employment opportunities for those candidature who have completed the courses successfully.

Training:

The Trades offered are usually two-months duration with an intake of 40-60 trainees per batch.

Training Content: Training content development with inputs from the industry to meet the global best practices has been specially developed. Updation, translation and customization of the training content is continuously ensured to remain current and meet industry specific needs.

Machinery & Equipment: Each training centre is equipped with requisite plant & machinery and support infrastructure similar to the actual industrial working environment related to specific trade.

Skill sets: The objective of the program is to impart basic skills necessary to become specialized in their respective trades, so that the initial wages are at least equal to the prescribed minimum wages.

Technical Skills: For each of the trades, special attention to detail is provided to inculcate industry specific technical skills during the entire program duration.

Soft Skills: English Language, General Knowledge, & Personality Development, Self-management, Workplace etiquette, Group/team behavior etc is laid emphasis upon.

Duration: Two-month course.

Certification of trainees: There will be a third party certification by expert group of people.

Placement:

The involvement of the training centre does not end with simply providing training to the candidates but is involved with providing placement assistance to the trainees in order to enable them to use their learnt skills to create economic advantage to themselves and fulfill industry skill needs. Therefore an assured placement is provided to each of the beneficiary upon successful completion of the training program in respective trades; based on industry commitment.

Several established associations and companies are very closely partnered with FIWE in the objective , for instance, Apparel Training & Design Center (ATDC), which is involved in training and placement of the Rural BPL youth in particular regions. Many other organizations eg. Chandan Garments, Trends, Nehru Yuva; around 25 companies in Rajasthan and many other in other States have placed confirmed requirement of manpower thereby assuring placement for every single trained BPL youth.
